Every Plot follows the same basic pattern.


Ordinary World

Disruption

Conflicts (rising action)

Climax

Denouement 

Resolution


Every narrative tells its story in a different way. Some start at the beginning of the plot, some in the middle. Some narratives start at the end.

This narrative is all over the place!



Trace the story from the perspective of Sally's narrative.

Use short quotes. (Ex. "room with table full of food" - ordinary world, setting)

Don't forget that even as the conflicts progress towards the climax, the story will change tone, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, sometimes informative. Track these as you track the rising action.
